There are good people in Toa Payoh, Singapore

Honesty in a dog eat dog world. With National day coming up in 2 days, I wonder what part of Nation Building are we actually celebrating. It is a big word for me hence I have put it down to CAPS. But here is what Brigham Young , (American religious leader, 2nd President of the Mormon church, and colonizer who significantly influenced the development of the American West. 1801-1877) said which pretty much summed up my experience this week.

"Honest hearts produce honest actions.”

I left my debit card at the cash machine and it was the dumbest thing ever of course and by the time I noticed it, it was too late. So with a skip and a hop and a massive big jump, I raced up to the nearest bank which was 2 mins away from the machine. Whilst I was in line waiting to cancel my card, a billion swear words and flashes of inspiration came to my mind. I was royally pissed off at myself for my carelessness. Then half an hour later, the lady had my card at the counter and said someone had promptly returned it. There is a good person in this world. There is a good person in Toa Payoh Central. I was super excited and what was even funnier...like the circle of life with the lion king roaring to the symphony of nature's circular manner - Another man came to the counter and returned another card which had sadly departed from its owner. There are good people in this world. There are good people in Toa Payoh Central.

So our National Day Celebrations is coming up and if there is any cause for celebration, it would be the honesty and integrity of Singaporeans.

Blaise Pascal said this about Integrity.

"The power of man's virtue should not be measured by his special efforts, but by his ordinary doings."

The action of an honest act is simple. It speaks straight to the heart and made my day.
